The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed its schools to organise mock Parliament of students in commemoration of Dalit icon B R Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary.

As part of the celebrations, it has also suggesting a host of topics for debates, including Sangh's proposal to adopt a Uniform Civil Code in the country. In a circular to heads of all affiliate schools on August 19, the board directed them to prepare the students of Class XI and XII for “parliamentary style debate” in mock Parliament session on the current “socio-political” issues.

“Give necessary guidelines to all teachers and students. Conduct practice sessions, using both role play of historic debates and issues that concern society today. Watch broadcasts of parliamentary and state assembly debates to better appreciate the issues being debated by various departments. These are available online and periodically broadcast on television,” it said in its directive to the schools. The CBSE suggested a total of 10 topics for debate and asked the schools to choose any of them.
