Neighbours molest two minors in separate incidents

Two instances of sexual assault on minor girls by their neighbours came to light in the City on Wednesday.

A seven-year-old girl was molested by her 60-year-old neighbour in Deenabandhu Nagar in Nandini Layout on August 21 and the incident came to light on Wednesday.

According to police, the girl’s mother works as a maid and father is a painter. On August 21, her mother went to work and her sister left for school and the victim was staying alone in the house.

Ramu, the suspect, cajoled her on the pretext of giving her a chocolate, took her to an isolated spot near the house and touched her inappropriately. He is said to have asked the girl not to tell about it to anyone. The frightened girl kept mum for six days but on Wednesday she narrated her ordeal to her sister. The latter in turn told their parents who lodged a complaint.

A case has been registered under Pocso Act. In another incident, an eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in a cattleshed in Battarahalli in KR Puram police limits on Wednesday.

The police said that the girl resides with her mother, who works at a garments factory. On Wednesday noon, the suspect, Venkataramana, also a garments worker, noticed the girl playing in front of his house. He lured her by offering her chocolates, took here to a nearby cattleshed where he molested her.

The mother came looking for her daughter and found her walking towards the house, crying. When questioned, the girl narrated the incident after which the mother lodged a complaint. Cases have been booked under Pocso Act in respect of both the incidents.
