Subroto Cup from Sept 11

The 56th edition of Subroto Cup inter-school football championship will be held from September 11 with Indian Air Force announcing the itinerary on Friday.

While the U-14 sub-junior boys championship is scheduled from September 11- 24, the U-17 junior boys event will be begin on September 30. Meanwhile, the U-17 junior girls competition will be held from September 16-29.

“The championship has expanded its reach and is in talks with some overseas clubs for their participation,” said Wing Commander and Honorary Secretary General, Subroto Muk­herjee Sports Education Society, Vijay Yadav.

 “The prize purse for the event is Rs 40 lakh with the winners in U-17 girls and boys taking Rs 3.5 lakh while U-14 boys pocketing Rs 5 lakh. The IAF will also have individual awards for outstanding perfor­mers, along with scholarships for around 100 students worth Rs 25,000 each,” he added.
