Smriti wants teachers to benefit from social schemes

Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani wants teachers to become beneficiaries of the government’s three social security schemes including Atal Pension Yojna and then motivate others also for it.

She wrote letters to the chief ministers of all the states on Friday, urging them to issue a directive to officials concerned for extending benefits of Paradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna and Atal Pension Yojna.

“The Teacher’s Day could be a great occasion to involve our esteemed teachers in enrolling not only themselves but also their family members and the members of communities around them under these social schemes,” the Union minister asked the chief ministers.

Benefits assured under the schemes will go a long way in building additional social security for the family members of the teachers, she underlined.
