Ola taxi drivers seek payment of incentive

Last Updated 31 August 2015, 21:20 IST

At least 200 taxi drivers associated with taxi aggregator Ola staged a protest in front of the cab’s office in the City, alleging non-payment of incentive.

The drivers alleged that as promised by the company, they were not getting Rs 500 towards incentive, which is credited to their account every day, since one-and-a-half month. And even if the payment was made, it was irregular and lesser than Rs 500.

Ramesh K R, one of the drivers, said, “We used to get Rs 500 towards incentive every day which used to get credited into our Ola accounts. But for the last one-and-a-half month, the company has stopped paying it. Some times, we are credited with only Rs 200 or Rs 300. When we sought an explanation from the company officials, they told us that we were overcharging our customers and hence, the entire amount would not be credited. Allegations on fleecing customers are baseless since the customers pay only the amount that is printed on the receipt,” he said.

Another protester expressed that they would wait for a week’s time for the situation to improve. “We will once again protest for our rights. If there is no response, then we will have no option but to disassociate ourselves with Ola,” he expressed.

A representative from the company said that the matter had been sorted out and the drivers had been credited with the amount, as promised.
