Acting on a tip-off that miscreants were planning to smuggle 254 kg ketamine to Taiwan via Bengaluru International Airport, the authorities had seized the banned substance. On interrogating the suspects, the authorities came to know of the huge cache of ketamine stored in a house in Jakkur.
Janardhana, owner of the house and a silk businessman, told the investigators that a month ago, an unknown person had hired the house by paying Rs two lakh as deposit. He had agreed to pay a monthly rent of Rs 45,000. However, since a contract was yet to be signed between the parties, the suspect’s antecedents could not be known, he said.
Sources said that four Chinese nationals were reportedly planning to smuggle the banned substance to Taiwan. Their identity, however, is yet to be established. According to sources, the suspects were using jeans pants for hiding ketamine.
