D N Nayak, Health Commissioner said, drugs worth Rs 18 lakh were purchased.
Nayak said the drugs would be available free of cost only for below poverty line (BPL) patients. Others will have to buy the medicines.
He said a decision still needed to be taken on the annual purchase of the life saving drugs. "As of now, we have stored the drugs for 2010. However, if the needs arise, we will purchase more," he said.
The drugs are expected to be available in KC General Hospital and Jayanagar General Hospital on Friday.
