Aegis,  a global outsourcing and technology services company owned by the Essar Group, has decided to hire 4,000 people this year in India to meet growing demands in the digital, BFSI, and analytics spaces.

“We are finding more momentum in the business process management (BPM) space with the government’s new initiatives and the eCommerce boom. So we are planning to ramp up our headcount by adding 4,000 more people,” said Aegis Global CEO Sandip Sen on Friday.

In an interaction with Deccan Herald, Sen said the company is performing well thanks to high growth markets like Asia-Pacific, India, Middle East, and Africa.

“Our India business is performing very well because of the exponential growth in eCommerce and the government’s decision to enhance FDI in insurance. Telecom is also growing with the explosion of data. Financial services business will also improve with the government’s decision to open new banks and payments banks,” he said.

Aegis, with its operations in 43 locations across nine countries, serves over 150 clients across sectors and employs nearly 40,000 people. “Aegis has presence in 28 centres across India and employs 27,000 in the country. Besides adding eight centres last year, the company added a third centre in Bengaluru last week,” said Sen.

The company is also performing very well in the Middle East, with its Saudi Arabia centre already doing business of $100 million this year. Meanwhile, Aegis also won a large telecom deal in the UAE recently.

Downplays IPO plans

Downplaying the IPO rumour, he said the company is planning to consolidate and grow this fiscal. “We have registered double-digit annual growth for the last two years and will hit revenues of $500 million by the end of this fiscal,” he said.

On the digital front, he said the company is serving most Indian eCommerce companies. “Here we have the advantage as we are the customer service interface for these companies as we take their queries first. Since these queries are not just voice, we have to analyse their mails, chats, SMS, social media responses to build their behaviour. Because of the digital world, we are getting lots of data. We analyse these data and give back insights to our customers to enhance their business,” said the Aegis CEO.

He said Aegis is focusing on client-centricity to enhance its service delivery. “Customers want us to be a strategic partner. They want us to change the business, not incrementally but through transformations. So here we are investing in quality people, CRM systems, technology, platforms, social media, and analytics engine. We have QPO (quality process outsourcing) which the clients themselves would like to invest to improve their service,” he said.
