A national-level judo player and his girlfriend were allegedly kidnapped in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar.

They were beaten up and forced to provide details of their ATM card. The accused, however, managed to get only Rs 4,500 through the ATM card. Then they told the duo to arrange Rs 5 lakh cash. Police have arrested six men, including the ex-boyfriend of the woman.

The victim, Vikas, is a student of Dyal Singh College. It is alleged that he was called to a house in Pandav Nagar on the pretext of providing private judo classes there. He was overpowered on reaching the house. The accused had also called the woman there.

Once both were in the house, the accused thrashed Vikas. They later took his wallet and the PIN of his ATM card.

“They expected to get a hefty amount, but only found Rs 4,500 in the victim’s bank account,” said a police officer. The woman was then told to arrange Rs 5 lakh to leave the house. “Both were kept locked in the house,” the officer added.

They somehow managed to raise an alarm on which locals informed police. A Pandav Nagar police station team rescued them and arrested the accused.

A case under sections 365 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement), 394 (causing hurt in committing robbery), 384 (extortion) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered with Pandav Nagar police station. The accused has been identified as Ravi Raj, Atif, Yash, Akash, Pallav and Usman.

The woman told police she was in a relationship with Ravi Raj last year. After their break-up, she was in a relationship with Vikas, which was objected by Ravi Raj. Raj’s friends are reported to be student of Marwah Studios, police said.
