Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will, on November 19, launch the scheme to provide Rs 50,000 to each of the SC/ST couples who tie the knot in simple mass marriages.
Siddaramaiah will launch the scheme at a simple mass marriage programme to be organised at Holalkere to mark the 98th birth anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi. This was announced by Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya at a press conference in the city on Monday. The chief minister will inaugurate the scheme by distributing cheques to the SC/ST couples. Registration for the programme begins on Tuesday. The scheme will thereafter be applicable to all SC/ST couples who get married in mass marriages to be held by organisations and mutts, the minister said.
