The fashion industry is flourishing tremendously,” says 35 year-old actress Neha Dhupia who is currently mentoring the third season of Kingfisher Super Models aired on NDTV GoodTimes.

This year, the show highlights the lives of 10 aspiring models who struggle their way out through various challenges to achieve their ultimate dream of becoming a supermodel.

“It is a place where aspiring models can compete and learn a lot about what they are lacking in and their growth. They are being guided by some of the best and experienced people of the industry which helps them take their careers forward.”

Apart from such platforms, Dhupia feels that the fashion industry and designers are constantly growing. “A lot is going on these days. We have much more talented artists in the industry today who have gone international and made a mark,” says the Singh is
Kinng actress.

“Unlike the present times, we lacked good fashion choreographers earlier and that affected the quality of fashion shows to a great extent. Earlier, the industry was very unprofessional and lacked a proper understanding of what fashion should actually be,” she says.

However, the competition today has become very brisk,” she says on the current scene of fashion in India.

However, Bollywood is, and has always been a dominant part of the fashion industry and this “shouldn’t affect the models in any way,” according to Dhupia.

“People who willingly opted for this industry know that we are a nation ruled by Bollywood and if they feel the lack of opportunity and visibility here, then it’s their problem. Today, a really talented model is paid well, gets many ads and gets to be the showstopper of fashion shows.”

About the future of these aspiring models, Dhupia says that it’s upto them on how far they want to go. “The right kind of attitude and using their intelligence in the right way is all what is required to be a successful model,” suggests the former Femina Miss India.
