Revenue and District In-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad said the government should conduct mass marriage ceremonies in all the 30 districts of the State to help farmers and poor. He was speaking at ‘Shubharambha’,  a mass marriage ceremony organised by the district administration here on Sunday.

“Mass marriages will definitely bring changes in the society. This needs to be made more popular among common people,” Prasad said.

Of the 116 couples who tied the knot, five were specially abled.
Each couple was given a Mangalasutra, a pair of toe rings, saree and other items. The district administration spent Rs 18,000 on each couple, officials said.

A huge rush was seen at the venue as more than 8,000 people, including the relatives of newlyweds, had assembled.
