JOIN USSandeep Prabhu, Nagesh Singh and Veera Manikanta emerged winners SBI-Great Malnad Challenge (GMC) cycle race that traversed a tough route from Madikeri to Marwanthe.
Sandeep emerged winner in the Masters category (below 40 years of age) while Nagesh Singh topped the Super Masters category, which is for cyclists above 45 years of age. Veera emerged winner in the Open race.
Participants covered a total distance of 700 kilometres over a period of eight days, after starting from Madikeri on October 31. They passed through Bababudangiri, one of the highest peaks in Karnataka and moved to Thirthahalli and finally finished at Marwanthe, near Udupi.
“I had never attempted such hardcore MTB trails. The race has been a revelation to me regarding MTB cycling. I'm happy that I was able to negotiate the tough terrain of the Malnad to emerge the champion,” said Prabhu.
