Urging to fulfil their various demands, members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene staged a protest against the State and Central governments, in Mysuru, on Wednesday.

The agitators alleged that the governments had failed to handle drought situation in the State and also ignorant to check farmers’ suicides. The government even failed to provide sufficient electricity for irrigation pumps. Owing to severe drought, farmers, in search of livelihood, are migrating from place to place. But, no government has been showing interest to create job opportunities in rural areas. Agitators also alleged that government has not taken any action against sugar factory owners for the delay in settling the arrears.

Earlier in the day, farmers took out a protest march from Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple to DC’s office. Farmers leader Kurubur Shanthakumar led the protesters. Agitators also tried entering the DC‘s office but tight police security prevented them doing so.
