That this tennis star will soon hit the silver screen may sound odd but Leander says that he always loved the movies.

Leander says he grew up on a diet of Amitabh Bachchan films like Sholay and Coolie. Shivaji Ganeshan, he believes, lent a voice to Tamil cinema.

But fan of the marquee he may be, he is still discreet. “The script has to be compelling enough,” Leander tells Metrolife.

Leander says he never liked to restrict himself to just one role. “I have not signed any film as yet. I have always wanted to go to the Himalayas, drive a Formula One car. I love speed rides and yes, would love to explore the actor in me,” he says.

Leander has been taking acting lessons and looks like he’s using all opportunities, that come his way, to polish his acting skills.

Leander observes he always looked at tennis as a bridge bringing communities together and the same must go for movies as well.

Controversies are a part of every game and so are the pair offs. But how would Leander take the same in Bollywood? “It all depends on how you conduct yourself. Controversies will be there and that’s inevitable. But depends on how much importance you give to it,” Leander wraps up.
