<p>A police constable, attached to the Yasalur police station in Sakleshpur had a narrow escape when attacked by a wild elephant near Kumbralli on Sunday night.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The constable, Altaf, was on his way home when he crossed paths with an elephant on the Shukravarasanthe and Kodlipet Road around 9 pm. Altaf stopped his bike when he saw the lone tusker, but the animal attacked him and he was thrown up in the air. <br /><br />The tusker, which was moving towards him, escaped into a coffee plantation when it saw the light from an approaching autorickshaw. Altaf suffered fractures on his limbs and arms from the fall. The autorickshaw passengers rushed him to a hospital, said inspector B Manjaiah.</p>
