Describing him as a “self-appointed mullah”, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Aamir Khan who had joined forces to speak out on the issue of intolerance, and wanted to know which country he wants to go.

“If Hindustan is not a place to stay then this “Idiot Ranchordas” wants to go to which country? Pakistan, Afghanistan, Paris, Brussels or Mali, he should declare immediately. Those who do not like the country, they must not speak of love for country or “Satyamev Jayate,” the Shiv Sena said in identical editorials in party organs — Saamana, the Marathi broadsheet and Dophar ka Saamana, the Hindi Tabloid.

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray is the Managing Editor of these newspapers — and the reference — “Idiot Ranchordas” comes from the character he played in 3 Idiots, while “Satyamev Jayate”, is the tele-series, through which the “Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood” raised several issues.

“Speaking of leaving the country is a language of treachery. Leave whatever glory this country has given you, here only,” the editorial said. “Because of the threat of IS type Muslim terror outfits, Muslims across the world are worried. People of Syria and other countries are fleeing their own country,” it said.

India has given so much love, affection and respect to Aamir who poked fun at Hindu religious sentiments through his blockbuster movie, “PK”, the editorial said.  It also referred to the incident when Dilip Kumar and his criticism of the award conferred by the Government of Pakistan. “The birthplace of Dilip Kumar aka Yusuf Khan is in Peshawar in Pakistan. But after the controversy, “he never proclaimed he was scared and wanted to leave the country…” Then why Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan talk like this? Aren’t they aware that Muslims are safer in India  compared to even Muslim countries?” the Shiv Sena said.
