Inaugurating a five-day training programme organised for the faculty in this regard, FMMCH Administrator Rev Fr Richard Coelho said students need to learn about on simulators and skills trainers before they get their hands on patients, which is already the norm in Western world, as clinical medicine becomes more focused on patient safety.

Ms Amanda Wilford, CAE International faculty from UK, was welcomed by FMMC Administrator Rev Fr Rudolf Ravi D’Sa and FMMCH Assistant Administrator Rev Fr Ajith Menezes.

Macula Healthcare CEO Tapa Bhattacharya said, “Simulation is the way forward for bridging the gap between theoretical and practical learning in the safest possible way and Father Muller has become the first such institution in the country to accomplish it in such a big magnitude”.

The centre will now be able to provide skill and simulation training to undergraduates, postgraduates and qualified professionals from the fields of medicine, nursing and other allied sciences.

The centre will also conduct community outreach programs.

Programme coordinators Dr Rithesh D'Cunha, Dr Lulu Sherif  and Dean Dr Jayaprakash Alva were present on the occasion.
