Dangers of extinction of language cited at Urdu poets meet

Academy chief calls for people to work unitedly for progress of country

The members of Muslim community have played a pivotal role in the development of the country. All of us should join hands in building the country, said Karnataka Urdu Academy Chairperson Fouzia Choudhary.

Speaking at Urdu utsav and national level poets meet, she said “The extinction of a language will lead to extinction of culture. There is a need to preserve all the languages.” Education is an important tool for development. If an Urdu centre is set up, the Academy will giveneeded books for the centre.

Prof Sheik Ali, former Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University stressed the need for setting up of a Urdu centre at the district-level. ‘Chikkamagaluru ithihasa, Sufi santhara jeevana charithre’ by Mohammed Ali was released on the occasion.
