Wife eats eggs, husband chickens out

The trouble for Ganesh and Priya (names changed) started during their honeymoon to Singapore with the husband taking exception to her dressing and eating habits. Their honeymoon was a virtual disaster as they fought on several occasions.

Priya, who had studied in the US, was used to western style of clothing and relished eggs, something that Ganesh and his mother, both vegetarians, could not stomach.
This was was only made worse by a conservative mother-in-law, who could not handle her daughter-in-law making omelettes in the kitchen regularly.

Relations worsened between them after neither of them gave up their habits and were unwilling to compromise and things came to a head, with the husband demanding a divorce.
According to the details stated in the divorce papers, Ganesh and his mother disapproved Priya’s way of dressing and that she did not wear her mangalsutra regularly.

 Among other things in his application, Ganesh says he suspects his wife of infidelity and complains that she was a spendthrift and a shopping addict.
Fed up with his protests and squabbles, Priya too has now decided that she wants a divorce.
