Christmas is knocking on the door and the new year too is around the corner. What can be a better time to flaunt your best outfits and accessories, as you meet new people and party the night away! Either as an excuse to dress your best or to try something new and creative with your look— whatever be the reason, Christmas and New Years’ eve are the most awaited nights for most fashionistas.

“Neater silhouettes with bold colours, with metallic colours as add-ons, are trending this Christmas and New Years’. However, for the cold weather, the outfits can be made more interesting by adding long skirts, smart sweatshirts, hoodies and black boots to keep one warm yet stylish,” says designer Masumi Mewawalla. She adds, “While women can try out long boots this winter to up their style quotient, men should maintain the hat as a perfect accessory along with a long coat.”

To make the most out of one’s wardrobe this festive season, designer Zulekha Shariff says, “Sporting the right accessories together is a basic fashion skill. This separates well-dressed people from those who look boring with just the normal winter wear. Even if one’s ensembles are totally basic, one can still look incredible if they add the right accessories.” She adds, “Create a pop of colour with jewellery, a scarf, a handbag, or a bright pair of shoes. I suggest jazz up the look with a statement necklace or a pair of ‘notice me’ high heels and a pair of bold earrings. This makes your outfit look simple and classy yet elegant and stylish.”

She adds, “Solid long women dresses are a perfect New Years’ eve outfit. Dresses in soft pastel shades of blue and green can also make for wonderful party wear. Sequins rule the trends this season, so flaunt them and make heads turn.”

Designer Ritu Seksaria is of the same opinion. She says, “When it’s time for Christmas and New Years’, gowns and body fit dresses rule the latest trends. Printed blazers, prints and checks are also in this season and these are some of the perfect options for someone who wants to go quirky.”

“In case one wants to keep it simple while celebrating the festive season, long overcoats or trench coats worn over nice checkered or solid sweaters paired with perfectly fitted joggers can look absolutely stylish and it will also help keep the chilly breeze away. Cowl neck cardigans, bennies, scarfs and ugg boots can also do wonders for both men and women,” she adds.

For those who like to experiment with their outfit for the season’s parties, designer Shibani Sanghvi suggests, “For those vintage enthusiasts, it’s time to retrograde to the seventies and eighties with skater dresses and side slight dresses in solid hues. However, others can drape themselves with the double-breasted coats. Meanwhile, leather jackets can also be picked in different hues of blue, red and grey instead of the classic black or tan shades.”

She adds, “To make one’s winter outfits more interesting this season, chunky or quirky pieces of jewellery like a classy statement earcuff or mid rings can go well with every outfit for women. As for men, a bright colour watch teamed with a messenger bag looks funky and stylish.”
