A 38-year-old woman died while her daughter suffered minor injuries when a lorry rammed into their two-wheeler near BK Halli Gate under the Chikkajala traffic police limits on Sunday morning.
According to the police, the deceased, Jayanthi, and her daughter, Lavanya, a second PU student, were returning home to Hunsuru near Chikkajala, after Church on Sunday.
Lavanya, was riding the bike, while her mother was in the pillion. Near BK Halli Gate, a lorry rammed into the bike and the mother and daughter fell down. While Jayanthi came under the front wheel of the lorry and died on the spot, Lavanya escaped with minor injuries.
Passersby informed the police and rushed them to a nearby hospital. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. The police have seized the lorry. A case has been registered and the search is on for the driver.
