The Devanahalli police arrested a man in connection with a murder that took place at Nanjappa Circle in Chintamani of Kolar district six months ago.

The suspect was identified as Krishnappa. He was accused of murdering Krishnappa, a hotel employee, in Chintamani.

According to the police, the deceased Krishnappa, who was married, had an affair with a woman. Some time later, he began an affair with the woman's daughter and the daughter became pregnant.

In order to save her daughter the embarrassment and humiliation, the woman arranged her daughter's marriage with Krishnappa (the suspect).

She had kept her daughter's pregnancy a secret, added the police.

Krishnappa, the suspect, became suspicious as he learnt about his wife's pregnancy and reprimanded her. She told him about affair with the hotel employee Krishnappa and how she became pregnant.

An enraged Krishnappa

decided to murder his namesake. He connived with his two associates, invited Krishnappa for a discussion, attacked him with weapons and murdered him, said the police.

They transported the body and dumped it at Devanahalli. The police did not establish the identity of the deceased, said the police.

The tailor tag on the collar of the shirt worn by the slain Krishnappa helped the police to crack the case, added the police.
