Intermittent power supply

Residents of Tunganagar, Herohalli and surrounding areas which come under Byadarahalli substation, Herohalli (BBMP ward 72),0 are facing power cuts for more than six hours a day from the past one month. In addition, the power goes off innumerable times, which is causing a lot of hardship to the residents.

The 1912 Bescom helpline is of no use as the staff there can only register complaints but cannot explain the reason for power cut. They are clueless whether the problem would be addressed or not. We hope that the authorities will take immediate action and resolve the problem at the earliest as it is adding more stress to our already stressed out lives

Pipes stacked on footpath
Huge concrete pipes have been stacked on the footpath of Old Airport Road inconveniencing the pedestrians for quite some time now. As it is, the footpath is not at all pedestrian-friendly with uneven and broken stretches along the entire route. None of the civic authorities has taken steps to fix the footpath and make it commuter-friendly. Is it too much to expect from the BBMP for a pedestrian-friendly footpath?

Repair bad roads in KS Layout
The residents of Isro Layout and Kumaraswamy Layout I and II Stage are facing perennial problem due to very bad condition of roads. The main roads of Kumaraswamy Layout I and II stage are very narrow and there is very heavy traffic on these roads due to unprecedented commercial activities.

All the residential buildings are being converted in to commercial buildings. This has lead to heavy traffic on these roads which are the only approach roads to Banashankari, Jayanagar and beyond. The main roads starting from Daynandasagar College and up to Isro Layout are in very bad shape and dug up every 10 feet. There is always water and sanitary leakages on any given day. The roads are not tarred for the past four-five  years and look like a war field. Both the elected representatives and civic authorities have turned a blind eye to the basic problem faced by the residents.

Immediately after Kumaraswamy Layout I stage bus terminus, there are 6-10 liquor joints and especially women and children who get down from the buses here hesitate to move on the roads due to inebriated men cause trouble here. This has become a nightmare for the residents. Though the police station is located around 100 mtrs away, no action being taken by the police authorities to curb the problem. We hope that the authorities concerned would take immediate necessary action.

Streetlights not functioning
Streetlights are not functioning for the past six months on first cross, Vinayaka Layout. These are old tube lights fitted 30 years ago. None of the civic agencies has taken trouble to repair these streetlights. I request BBMP officials to repair the dysfunctional streetlights.

M Krishna Murthy,
Vinayaka Layout
