The Odisha Police believe that the four terror suspects who had fled from a Bhubaneswar hotel on Monday night after coming under the scanner for their suspicious behaviour may have moved to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

What has prompted the state police to follow this theory is a CCTV footage at the Girisola check post in southern Ganjam district on the Odisha-AP border which shows a car similar to that used by the four suspects, while fleeing from the Bhubaneswar hotel, crossing the post with a few passengers.

The vehicle, like the suspects’ four wheeler, was carrying a Delhi number plate but it was not properly visible. The CCTV footage is currently being thoroughly scanned, highly placed police sources said on Wednesday.

Intercepted

The Andhra Pradesh Police on Wednesday intercepted a vehicle with Delhi registration number and nabbed five persons, including two women, in Visakhapatnam district and is trying to ascertain whether they are the same suspected terrorists who had fled from neighbouring Odisha.

“On suspicion, a vehicle with a Delhi registration number has been intercepted in Visakhapatnam district. Five people including two women travelling in the vehicle are being questioned,” a senior Intelligence officer said.

Asked if those intercepted persons are the same four persons who had fled from Odisha, a senior police officer from Visakhapatnam said, “We are in the process of verifying... We don’t have more details at this point of time.
