The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Maharashtra government to hold an event to kickstart the “Make in India Week” programme at Girgaum Chowpatty beach in Mumbai, which will be attended by the prime minister.
A bench of Justices M Y Eqbal and Arun Mishra stayed a Bombay HC order which had prohibited organising any event on the beach site.
Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the state, said that the proposed function between February 13 and 18 is India’s pride and the administration does not propose to raise any permanent structure over there.
