In a bid to grab more market share in India, electronics giant Samsung on Thursday showcased a smart and category redefining product portfolio, from smartphones to visual and digital appliances at Samsung Southwest Asia Forum 2016 event in Kuala Lumpur.

Samsung Electronics Southwest Asia President and CEO HC Hong said, “While Make for India will continue to be a strong focus area for Samsung Southwest Asia, we will be introducing path-breaking innovations across various categories of products through the year. Our goal is to augment consumer experience, while also fortifying our leadership position in the Indian market.”

With two manufacturing plants and four R&D facilities that employ close to 45,000 people, Southwest Asia is one of the biggest R&D hubs and a key region for Samsung.

Galaxy A series

Samsung India launched new smartphones equipped with glass and metal design — dual-sim Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016), priced at Rs 29,400 and Rs 33,400 respectively. The company has partnered with online major Snapdeal for the sale of the phone. It is also available with 1.5 lakh retailers across India. Samsung has partnered with Airtel to offer consumers up to 30 GB free data for six months.

Samsung also unveiled its new range of Quantm Dot SUHD TV, AddWash washing machine, HotBlast microwave oven, Twin Cooling refrigerator and other B2B products, which includes the 360 Cassette air conditioner for enterprises.

Visual devices

Samsung India unveiled a new line of SUHD TVs with quantum dot display, state-of-the-art design with the world’s first bezel-less curved design and powered by Tizen OS.

Digital appliances

Samsung smart convertible 5-in-1 refrigerator is powered by Twin Cooling Plus technology — applied to premium side-by-side refrigerators — that enables consumers to be flexible with cooling storage depending on their needs. The fridge and freezer compartment has its own cooling system, allowing the refrigerator to be flexible, depending on the consumer’s needs, offering five different modes: normal, extra shopping, vacation, seasonal, and home alone mode.

Meanwhile, the new Samsung air conditioner series is engineered to consume less power and produce exceptional cooling comfort. For increased durability, the outdoor unit’s DuraFin is more corrosion-resistant, as compared with a conventional condenser.

An in-built stabilizer feature can handle voltage fluctuations from 146V to 290V without an external stabiliser. Equipped with the world’s first new 8-pole motor in its digital inverter compressor, it ensures faster cooling performance of up to 43 per cent, while using up to 68 per cent less energy, as compared with conventional air conditioners.
