A tailor by profession, he has a penchant for fighting elections of all hues. Shambulingegowda, a resident of Indavalu in the taluk has contested 14 elections, including Assembly and Parliamentary polls. The die-hard poll contestant has filed nomination papers as Independent for the upcoming zilla panchayat elections to make it 15.

Gowda, who had contested from Arakere ZP constituency, last time, has filed nominations from Kothathi and Badanuru ZP seats. He has fought Assembly elections from Channapatna, Maddur, Srirangapatna constituencies and contested Lok Sabha elections twice from Bengaluru South and Mandya constituencies.

Shambhulingegowda, however, has drawn blank, so far. He has lost all his electoral battles in the past and is not too keen to open his account in panchayat elections either.
Gowda told Deccan Herald that he contests elections to send a message across that the elections should be fought honestly and transparently.

“If the voters seek money to exercise their franchise, then they would not be in a position to demand overall development, later. Hence, it is necessary not to yield to any materialistic benefits and instead vote for a honest person without any expectations in return.”

The candidates too should minimise their expenses and adhere to norms laid down by the Election Commission. The candidates should ensure fair practices during elections, he said.
The Darthi Pakad of Mandya, Shambulinegowda hails from Deshavalli in Mallavalli taluk and plies his trade (tailoring) at Induvalu in Mandya taluk.
