The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will soon prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for setting up a state-of-the-art women entrepreneurs park with world-class facilities.

K Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary, Karnataka Industries Department, held a meeting on Friday with presidents of women’s associations across the State and KIADB officials to finalise the modalities of the project. KIADB is expected to submit the DPR by February 28. The Union Ministry for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has also approved the project and has assured a grant of Rs 8 crore.

The park will come up on a 100-acre plot earmarked by KIADB in Harohalli Industrial Area, Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagaram district. According to Ratna Prabha, the park will be a model not only for the State but for the country with state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class facilities.

Tax incentives, stamp duty exemption, among other benefits, will be provided to women entrepreneurs.

The proposal for the park, showcased at the recent ‘Invest Karnataka - 2016’ summit in Bengaluru, received good response from over 45 women entrepreneurs, who were keen on registering for plots in the park. Women entrepreneurs who wish to apply for plots in the proposed park can apply formally before February 22.

Similar parks are likely to be set up at Mysuru, Hubballi, Ballari in the first phase and at Belagavi in the second phase. A women entrepreneurs’ guidance cell will also be set up to counsel women entrepreneurs.
