Members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students wing of the BJP, and students from various colleges in the City took out a rally from Freedom Park to Mahatma Gandhi statue near Anand Rao Circle on Thursday, condemning the recent “anti-national” activities at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi.

The students and members of ABVP took out a Tri-colour march holding a 150-ft-long national flag. National general secretary of ABVP, Vinay Bidre said, “The JNU incident is taking a political turn and we condemn the act of the students who planned to conduct meetings, which resulted in a serious situation. The country’s integrity and nationality are at stake and we should ensure nothing harms our nation. Everyone should be united and prove that no one can disturb peace in our country.”

He said those responsible for organising meetings in support of anti-nationals at the university should be punished in accordance with law. The police should do their job and make sure the culprits do not go scot-free. More than 500 students including members took part in the rally.
