Avoid confrontation

Last Updated 30 May 2009, 11:43 IST

Sir,

Now the heat and dust raised by the elections and the ministry making have settled down, It is time for Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi to apply the healing touch to smooth the frayed nerves of parties and the people who opposed to the Congress. The PM should promise that his government will avoid confrontation with the opposition but will consult it in all vital policy decisions.

The opposition on its part should have a shadow government to study all the proposals put forward by the ruling coalition and make informed decisions on them to extend support to the government instead of blindly opposing everything.

Both the ruling and opposition parties should understand that the people are fed up with a policy of confrontation but want a conciliatory and consensual approach to solve the vital problems facing the nation.
