Only 15 objections to draft rules for cab aggregators

Transport Commissioner Ramegowda on Wednesday said the Transport department had received around 15 objections to the draft rules for cab aggegrators.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Ramegowda said: “We will scrutinise the objections and incorporate only those in the public interest. The rest will not be incorporated. My first look at the objections gave the impression that they were very general in nature.

No serious objections have been communicated. So, in a week’s time, we will come out with the final notification and then the rules will be binding on all the parties concerned.”

The period for public objections to the new rules for cab aggregators drafted by the State government ended on March 9. Subsequently, a gazette notification will be undertaken and a final order issued on the rules.

10-day grace

The Transport department will give aggregator cabs a 10-day grace period to obtain the required permits to operate taxis, after the gazette notification of the new rules.

It is mandatory for all types of cabs plying across the City to possess a transport vehicle permit obtained from the respective regional transport offices.

Ramegowda said that most cabs in Bengaluru were plying as non-transport vehicles with wrong permits such as luxury car permits.
