<p>A man committed suicide by hanging himself from a traffic signage board pole near Renuka Parameshwara Temple in Shivajinagar in the wee hours on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Srinivas, 50, was a Tempo Traveller driver.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Preliminary investigation indicates that Srinivas may have ended his life due to financial difficulties, the police said.<br /><br />Srinivas had taken to drinking and was living the life of a vagabond. He had health issues and had borrowed heavily from various sources, but was unable to repay the loans, the police said. He used a rope and hanged himself from the pole at around 1.30 am. <br /><br />The incident came to light early Saturday morning when his friend Mahendra spotted the body. He alerted the victim’s relative Karthik who informed the police.<br /><br />The jurisdictional Commercial Street police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for postmortem.</p>
