In an attempt to modernise Indian jewels, forms and styles, and add that contemporary touch to make it suitable for daily wear, debutant designer Ambar Pariddi Sahai will launch her collection ‘Memoir’ at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016 (AIFW).

“The collection is inspired by the captivating allure of the mystery of the ocean. With silhouettes derived from merging and layering of different hues, the collection exemplifies the harmony of the crashing waves and vibrancy of the countless ecosystems thriving underwater,” Sahai tells Metrolife.

Comprising intricate neck pieces and earrings, the collection has elegance and earthiness as its core essence. Meant for those who are “well travelled and wish to make a statement by what they are wearing”, Memoir is avant-garde yet simple at
the same time.

“I have tried presenting the jewels by blending Indian flavours with a modern twist. Considering the complex tastes and preferences of people today, the pieces have all been created in a similar tone of forms and colours,” says Sahai.

With her first ever collection for the AIFW, Sahai has tried to experiment with different forms, looks and occasions, which she says is the “key of the collection.”

“One can relate Memoir with the story of a sea. Seeking inspiration from the underwater, you would see the fluidity of water which is represented by the flow of chains and use of pearls and aqua colours. The collection includes pieces that can be worn with Indian outfits and western dresses; jewels that can be teamed up with  office wear and also evening wear,” she adds.
