Street fest on autism

The HSR Layout traffic police in association with Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) and ‘I Support Foundation,’ an NGO, had organised a street fest to create awareness about autism here on Saturday.

Shajan Samuel, senior vice-president, MAAC, who spoke on the occasion, expressed concern over lack of awareness about autism. “It is important to understand the difficulties faced by autistic kids and free them from the social stigma,” he said.

Juhi Ramani, co-founder, ‘I Support Foundation’, said having an autistic brother made her more close to the cause. “The whole idea behind the event is to involve autistic kids, make their parents comfortable to bring them out and let them enjoy.

The programme also aims at promoting autism awareness, social acceptance and educating about the differently abled,” Juhi explained. More than 100 children and their families participated in the fest.
