BJP exhibiting dictatorship trend in democracy: Congmen

Last Updated 04 April 2016, 18:23 IST

Members of Congress party staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here, on Monday, accusing the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre of following anti-people policies

.

The agitators shouted slogans against the NDA government, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the Centre was curtailing civil rights of the people.

“The BJP is misusing power and is trying to avenge the opposition parties. The Centre is imposing itself on the states ruled by the Congress, from the backdoor. It is dreaming that its agenda of a Congress-free India would become a reality, if it dismisses Congress governments in states like Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarkhand. The BJP is exhibiting a dictatorship trend in a democracy, which is against the Constitution,” they alleged.

“Suicide of farmers has increased in the nation after the BJP assumed power at the Centre. The life of Dalits, backward class people and women has become miserable. Even foreign investment has decreased by 40 per cent. It could not even create one lakh jobs, against its claim of creating two crore jobs,” they said.

Members of student organisations who speak against the BJP and RSS are attacked. The Union ministers are responsible for the suicide of a Dalit student Rohit Vemula in Hyderabad Central University. JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was also victimised, they alleged.

MLAs Tanveer Sait and Vasu, district (rural) Congress president B J Vijaykumar and MUDA Chairman K R Mohan Kumar were present.
