'Govt has no control over officials'

Last Updated 21 April 2016, 19:43 IST

JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Thursday accused the government of having lost control over the official machinery.

Gowda told reporters after visiting Anand Kumar, a farmer from Chikkaballapur, at Victoria hospital here, that  the government had no control over the officials at the lower level. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been struggling to continue in power and hence, he appears to be least bothered about the plight of farmers.

Kumar had on Wednesday tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in front of the Chikkaballapur DC. Kumar, along with other aggrieved farmers, was protesting against Angarekanahalli gram panchayat’s move to auction his crops.  Gowda said he would visit Angarekanahalli on Friday and try to understand the woes of the farmers.
