Addressing the protesters, KSV Secretary K L Ashok said there are already rules stating what kind of cows can be used for food and what cannot be. “One needs Rs 40 per day to feed aged and useless cow. This is a burden on the farmers. They sell the aged cows and buy young ones,” he said.
“Poor get nutritious food at low cost because of the aged cow. Unaware of this, the government is writing death note of the farmers in the pretext of banning cow slaughter,” Ashok criticised. Vedike Assistant Secretary Gouse Mohiuddin, leaders Puttaswamy, Aftab, Musliar were present.
