Why is Modi not arresting Sonia, asks Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi over the AgustaWestland chopper scam and asked why Sonia was not being arrested.

He was addressing a gathering a day after Congress hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party with its ‘Save Democracy’ rally at Jantar Mantar. “The Congress and BJP are 2 sides of the same coin – they are both corrupt. Narendra Modi had said they will neither take nor offer bribes, but not a single arrest has been made in their last 2 years in power,” Kejriwal said at the Saturday rally.

“Four years back we all had assembled here at Jantar Mantar. We had assembled here to protest against the corruption of Congress and BJP,” he said, recalling the Anna Hazare movement.

The Delhi chief minister shared the stage with other senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh and the party’s Delhi convener Dilip Pandey.

“The Italian company Agusta was involved in corruption and had bribed all the big officials of this country for the deal. No one has been brought to book but our Prime Minister has not moved an inch in the investigations and nobody has been sent to jail,” said Kejriwal.

Scuffles between the police and party workers broke out after the AAP protesters started a march to gherao the homes of PM Modi and Sonia Gandhi.

According to the party, senior leaders Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh, Ashutosh, Dilip Pandey and scores of AAP workers faced brief detention. They were released in the evening.

Kejriwal said Modi came to power promising a crackdown on corruption, and accused him of saving the corrupt.

“Before the polls, Modi ji made tall promises to the people of this country that he will punish the culprits and will bring them to book. Today, it has been two years and he has done nothing about the corrupt,” he said.
