Devu murder: Two more held

Jayalakshmipuram Police have arrested two more persons involved in the murder of rowdy-sheeter Devendra alias Devu. With their arrest, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to six.

Padmanabha alias Paddanna, 40, a resident of Paduvarahalli and Karthik of Palahalli, Srirangapatna taluk, were arrested on Thursday night. They were apprehended from their hideout at Siddalingapura on the outskirts of the city.

On Wednesday, the police had arrested three others — Sunil Kumar alias Raghu, Shivaraju and C Rakesh. They were produced before the court of fourth civil judge on Thursday. While Sunil was remanded in police custody till May 18, the two others were handed over to judicial custody.

Pawan Kumar alias Pawan, the prime accused in the case and the first to be arrested among the suspects, has been already arrested and remanded to police custody.Devendra of Paduvarahalli was hacked to death during early morning hours of May 5 near a Mari temple at his own locality, here.

A gang of eight to 10 armed persons had bludgeoned Devendra to death, before escaping in a jeep, that was also seized later.
