'I'd like to try base jumping once'

Last Updated 02 June 2016, 18:31 IST

Rannvijay Singh is known as the heartthrob of reality television with his bold attitude and stylish looks. He’s back once again to host ‘MTV Splitsvilla 9’ which goes on air on June 11, 7 pm. His co-host, also the queen of hearts, Sunny Leone, is gearing up for the theme ‘Where Women Rule’. In a chat with Anila Kurian, Rannvijay talks about the show and the fun things he likes to do.

How’s it working with Sunny Leone?
This is the second season that we are working together and we’ve gotten to know each other better. We already have our bit of inside jokes; we also respect each other’s time and talent. She’s a natural at what she does and that makes working with her much easier.

Do you feel like doing some tasks along with the contestants?
It depends on the task actually. There are times when you just want to watch. But there are also moments when you want to dive in and work with them. We portray our fun personalities on screen and that’s exactly how we are off-screen as well.

You hail from an Army background. Do you have a set of Army rules that you still follow?
Of course, it’s part of my upbringing! I cleared my exams to join the Army but circumstances brought me to where I am today. However, I haven’t forgotten my roots and still continue to practise what was taught to me while growing up — especially how to respect women.

Your favourite vacation spot...
I used to plan my travel destinations according to the activities that the place offered. Now that I’m married, we pick places with great history and culture, where there is good food to try and different luxury hotels. Japan has been one of my favourites till now because they have everything anyone wants.

You’re an adventurous person. Any activity that you haven’t tried yet?
I know that you have to be an expert at skydiving, but I’d like to try base jumping once. I’d also like to try various adventure sports in India if the safety measures matched to the international standards.

Your style quotient...
My stylist and I come up with different looks depending on what I have to sport. I’m fine with anything as long as it makes me feel comfortable.  Being confident in what I wear is my style quotient.

Any upcoming Bollywood projects?
I’ve read a few scripts that have excited me, but nothing to talk about yet. Right now, I’m just concentrating on ‘Roadies’ and ‘Splitsvilla’.

Tell us about ‘MTV Splitsvilla 9’.
The theme is ‘Where Women Rule’ and I think it’s a perfect topic to discuss because of the society we are living in. We are just becoming aware of how we should behave with women. We hope that with the show and the way that the boys on the show behave with the girls will impact the viewers in a positive way.
