Anupama Shenoy appears before women's panel

The State Women’s Commission on Thursday served a notice on Ballari district SP Chetan to appear before it in person on July 16, for an explanation regarding allegations of harassment made against him by former DySP of Kudligi sub-division Anupama Shenoy.

Shenoy appeared before the Commission on Thursday and gave explanations over her allegations against the SP. Chetan was absent, despite the notice served on him by the Commission.

The Commission took serious objection to the SP’s act of deputing a DySP rank officer for giving an explanation. Hence, a notice was served on him, directing him to appear in person on July 16.

“Shenoy’s documents seem to prove harassment by the SP, but the Commission can’t come to a conclusion without obtaining the SP’s explanation,” the Commission chairperson Manjula Manasa told reporters.

The truth would be out once the SP makes his statement, she said.Shenoy told the Commission that land mafia, excise mafia, the SP and non-cooperation of others in the department resulted in her resignation, Manasa said.
