Role of textile in development emphasised

He was speaking at the certificate and stipend distribution function of the one month tailoring training camp organised jointly by the Apparel India Training Institute and Chikkaballapur Zilla Panchayat Handloom and Textile department in Hirebidanur village in Gauribidanur taluk on Saturday.

Hebbar said that the government has been laying more stress on establishing new handicraft development centres to develop the trade and provide employmen opportunity.

Principal objectives

The main objective of the government is to support production technology, market research, HRD and ITES (Information Technology Enabled Servcies) units, he said.
He called upon the educated unemplouyed people in rural areas to make use of the facilities provided by the Textile and Handloom department to achieve financial stability.

Srinivas, who spoke on the occasion,  said that after studying the impact of the textiles in creating job opportunities, the Karnataka Government has implemented the new Golden Textile Policy in  2008-09.

Elaborating on the future projects of the department,  he said that the main aim of the department was to increase the income of nearly five lakh people who are depending on the income of the textiles and garment. It furtther aims to more employment opportunities, he said. It was also the aim of the department to produce international quality garments at competitive prices, he said.

Cheques disbursed

The department officials and HIrebidanur Gram Panchayat president andApparel India Training Institute president distributed stipends in the form of cheqeus. The cash benefit is meant for the people who participated in the one month tailoring training camp.

Hirebidanur Gram Panchayat president Narasimhamurthy, Vasu, Textile officer Lakshman, Roopa Apparel India Training Institute chief Shasheendra, Rajendra and other officials and students were present on the ocasion.
