Sanjay Kapoor CEO of Bharti Airtel from March 1

Bharti Airtel had announced Kapoor's appointment as CEO (India and South Asia) along with other senior-level management elevations on January 13 this year, which was to come into effect from April 1, 2010, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Bharti Airtel, in January this year, had named the then CEO Manoj Kohli as head of its International Business Group to drive its global expansion plans.The move was aimed at enhancing its focus on expanding operations in international markets beyond India and South Asia and to further consolidate its leadership position in India.

Kapoor would be responsible for leading India and South Asia business of Bharti Airtel and drive growth and business synergies in mobile services, telemedia services, enterprise services and DTH. Both Kapoor and Kohli will report to Sunil Mittal.

The company also announced that Jai Menon, who is currently serving as Bharti Enterprises Group CIO and Bharti Airtel Director (Technology and Customer Service), has been elevated as Bharti Group Director (IT).Amrita Gangotra would take over Menon's role as Bharti Airtel Director (IT- India and South Asia).
