Met dept predicts rain, cloudy weather for 2 more days

Last Updated 30 July 2016, 21:04 IST

The city received scattered rain up to 5 mm on Saturday. The Met department has predicted cloudy weather with a few spells of rain for the next 48 hours.

The HAL airport received about 6.2 mm rainfall and the Kempegowda International Airport about 12 mm from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm on Saturday. The Met department officials said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were likely to be around 26 and 19 degree Celsius on July 31 and August 1.

Bannerghatta Road, Hulimavu and surrounding areas received light to moderate showers. However, there was not much damage to the civic infrastructure, according to the staff of the BBMP.

“We did not receive any complaints of waterlogging and uprooting of trees. Our workers are still working to pump out the excess water from lakes such as Kodichikkanahalli and Madiwala,” said a staff handling the control room at BBMP head office.

In the wake of the weather department predicting more rainfall in the coming days, BBMP commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad on Saturday instructed all the Palike control rooms and officers to be prepared to tackle the rain woes.

The commissioner has advised the public to remain wary and not get too close to the side drains, electricity poles, old walls and stormwater drains to avoid accidents.
