The park has been renovated at a cost of Rs 80 lakh. The district administration and the City Municipality had planned to perform the inauguration from the Chief Minister. However, CM’s programme has been cancelled in the last moment for about six times. With a view to throw open the facility to the public at the earliest, it has now been decided to inaugurate the park from the district in-charge minister.

A fountain has been set-up in the middle of the park. Walking path has been constructed in the green space for the benefit of the public. The renovated park has created a dedicated lung space for the City after over forty decades. District in-charge minister Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Anwar pasha, legislator K P Bache Gowda and City Municipality president M Prakash evinced interest in renovating the park.

However, there is still uncertainty over the inauguration of the park. Sources said that CMC president and councillors intend to invite Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Union Minister Veerappa Moily for the inauguration. There is also a discordant note that the district administration is out to inaugurate the park in a “hurry.” It may not be a surprise if the inauguration is postponed this time too.
