Rs 570-crore action plan for 2018 Mahamastakabhisheka

Deputy Commissioner V Chaitra said, the district administration has submitted an action plan for Rs 570 crore for the Mahamastakabhisheka of the statue of Gomateshwara in Shravanabelagola scheduled for 2018.

Chairing a preliminary meeting at the DC’s office here on Saturday, she said, the officials concerned should start preparing for the celebration without any delay.

As a temporary, but sturdy, structure needs to be constructed behind the statue of Gomateshwara, as tall as the statue itself, for conducting the abishekas, the DC directed the Public Works Department (PWD) authorities to start the tender process immediately.

Chaitra asked the officials of various departments to submit detailed action plans to the district administration before Wednesday. The event is very prominent and it should be celebrated in a significant manner.

The officials should put up a concerted efforts to make the event a great success, she added.
Programme organising committee president Jeetendra Kumar, M G Indrakumar, Vimuktakumar and H B Madangowda were present.

Prakrit University

According to sources in Shravanabelagola Jain mutt, pontiff Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami has said, if the construction works of Prakrit University in Shravanabelagola is completed as per the schedule, the President of India Pranab Mukherjee would be invited to inaugurate the institution.
