A new chapter

Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) recently celebrated its graduation day on a grand scale. Around 3,000 students marched to the tunes of a military band in ceremonial attire.

The graduates, placed in various firms across the country, returned to their alma mater to be a part of the event. The graduating batch and their parents were ecstatic as their names were called out to receive the special honours and graduation certificates.

Serial entrepreneur and Harvard alumnus Ravi Gururaj was the chief guest on the occasion. Delivering the graduation day address, he spoke about the importance of having a flexible thinking with a principled mind in a world of volatility, change and uncertainty. He underlined the importance of an entrepreneurial bent of mind in every individual to be successful in life. Entrepreneurship, he said, was not just about setting up a business or a company. He appreciated the institution for encouraging young minds to become entrepreneurs, mentioning the contribution of entrepreneur and incubation programmes offered at Dayananda Sagar Institutions and the startup village in the Dayananda Sagar University campus.

 Associate director of KPMG Gaurav Kumar congratulated the graduating students and shared some important lessons for life which included ‘Go, Create, Achieve, Love and Live’.

Vice president of Oracle University Vidya Nagaraj applauded all the graduates for their efforts and highlighted that it is a day of gratitude and celebration. She mentioned that she was impressed by the institution’s illustrious academic record and collaboration with a large number of corporates. She advised every graduate to be resilient for the big picture and work on their own individual branding.

Vice chairman, Dayananda Sagar Institutions, and pro-chancellor, Dayananda Sagar University, D Premachandra Sagar, in his presidential address, announced a special scholarship for DSIans writing the DSAT 2016 scheduled for August 14. On the occasion, 53 university rank holders and toppers were felicitated with gold and silver medals and 25 faculty members also received PhD degrees.
