Rachel Alex and Prujeeth Joshua, owners of ‘Cafe 1195’ near Hennur Cross, are childhood friends.

They are both creatively inclined and have their own interests. Yet what binds them is their love for cooking and food and this is what prompted them to start ‘Cafe 1195’ sometime ago.

It’s one place where you not only get to relish the best of continental food and some of Rachel’s and Prujeeth’s experimental dishes, but is also like an open-house that encourages artists, musicians and creative minds to come together.

Talking about the idea behind starting the cafe, Rachel says that the idea is to serve good, clean and tasty food. “We do the cooking ourselves because we believe that it isn’t just about filling a people’s stomach but also reminding them about the care and love that goes into the cooking. We not only serve our customers but also interact with them, to understand their food preferences. The feedback is incorporated into our method of cooking,” adds Rachel.

The menu is continental-based. “Our focal group is targeted towards college students and working professionals,” says Rachel. A few of the fast-moving dishes are pork burgers, chicken and beef roasted panini sandwiches, and the ‘beefy beast burger’, which is massive in its size and is delicious too. “Another speciality is the ‘Baconator’, a bacon and egg-based morsel that comes as a burger or as a sandwich. ‘Heaven Can Wait’, one of our munchies, is also a hit with the crowd,” explains Prujeeth. There are also a range of flavoured iced teas that are a hit with the college crowd. The place also serves the quintessential “sulaimani”.

People who frequent the Cafe say that they not only go there for the food but also the ambience. And yet another factor that has people coming back for more is the pricing which is reasonable. “We work hard to provide quality food and know that people love good food. We also offer special combo deals for the college crowd, and this is one of the reasons why they keep coming back,” says Rachel. The eatery is located No 1195, 6th main, 5th cross, HBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar. For details, call 7899339713.
