Nine Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials against whom cases were registered for allowing structures to come up on stormwater drains, appeared before the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF).
The officials are assistant engineer Guru Prasad, assistant director of town planning Shashidhar, assistant director of town planning B T Mohan Krishna, joint director town planning Govindaraju, additional director of town planning (retired) Chowde Gowda, assistant engineer Sunitha, assistant executive engineer Gangappa, assistant director of town planning Liyaqat and chief engineer (retired) Munikrishna.
They were among the 20 officials who were booked by the BMTF for irregularities in sanctioning building and layout plans.
The officers had been evading arrest ever since cases were registered against them. Four of these officials had even approached the high court seeking relief but the court directed them to appear before the BMTF and give their statements.
